Two persons have been declared dead following the crash of a light aircraft at the TMA Daycare Centre at Community One, Site 7, in Tema.
After a visitation by a team of investigators at the crash scene on Monday, the commissioner of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, John M.K. Wumborti, said that officials will return to the site on Tuesday to begin investigations on what caused the crash.
“For now the police and the military have secured
the crash scene. Tomorrow morning, we will return to collect the debris and secure it for detailed investigations to determine what exactly caused the
crash”, he stated.
Addressing the media at the scene, he praised personnel from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana National Fire Service and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for quickly responding to the message and moving to the scene to contain the fire and secure the area.
Mr Wumborti guaranteed the public that investigators would undertake an extensive analysis to identify the exact cause of the crash and aid in avoiding
similar events going forward.
No pupil or teacher has been reported dead.
