A Ghanaian Gospel musician, Akesse Brempong, has made an assertion that Ghanaians do not support their art as compared to other African countries and their own arts.
Akesse Brempong made this revelation during an interview with an Accra-based FM station.
According to Akesse, he has done shows in Nigeria and South Africa and the support from the people was simply overwhelming.
“The thing about Nigerians is that they cherish their language. They would rather you sing a Nigerian song to them than coming to sing an English song so you have to find a way of connecting with them first. You have to give them what they’re familiar with before you delve into what they’re not familiar with”.
He said Nigerians are so in love with their own art, so much that to break through there, you have to do it with the help of a Nigerian artiste.
However, the musician concluded that this is not the same with Ghanaians because they do not have that much support for their own acts.
