Artiste manager Nana Poku Ashis says security agencies would have picked up dancehall artiste Shatta Wale if the country was serious about its security intelligence.
His comment follows remarks made by Shatta Wale during his ShattaFest 2026 event, held over the weekend to coincide with his birthday.
Speaking in a Zoom interview on the Max Morning Show on Monday, Nana Poku Ashis said Shatta Wale’s statement, in which he declared support for his friends involved in fraud to fight the government and the FBI, should have attracted the attention of security agencies in advanced countries.
According to him, the statement was below the belt and should have been managed better.
“He hit below the belt. This is where his management needs to do a lot of work on the artiste. They need to prepare him because they know he has a tendency to speak loosely, so they need to prepare his mind that you’re going to meet your boys. But it’s not here that you will sit to talk about certain things. You need to make an impact,” he stated.
Nana Poku Ashis maintained that Shatta Wale’s remarks could have serious implications for his brand.
During the festival, Shatta Wale criticised the government for failing to create jobs for the youth, saying the situation had forced many young people to find alternative means of making money.
He added that he was not comfortable with a government that had failed to provide jobs, allowing the FBI to arrest unemployed youth who had turned to fraud.
Shatta Wale further disclosed that he knew many fraudsters who were his friends and vowed not to snitch on them because of the current economic hardship. He said he would support them to fight the government or even stand as president himself to protect them from the FBI.
