Road tolls will make a return to the highways of Ghana through a new technological platform set to be introduced by the Roads and Highways Minister-designate.
Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, during his vetting session before the Appointment Committee of Parliament, made this announcement on Monday, January 20, 2025.
He assured that the innovation will be fair and easy to collect and thus scrapping the traditional booth collection system.
“The road toll is coming back, but not in the form of building obstructions on the road.”

“It will be based on a technological platform that makes it fair, easy to collect, and easy to account for,” he said.
Hon. Agbodza emphasized the need for a holistic review to make much-needed interventions.
“We need to take a holistic review of the road network and see what we can do to make quick interventions to those sections that are the worst,” he added.
