Cristiano Ronaldo appears set to retire from professional football at the end of the season.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has revealed he expects the new campaign to be his last.
Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nassr expires next summer, which will take his stay at the club to four-and-a-half years.
He will be 42 by the time his deal ends with his birthday in February.
Prior to his latest comments, the 41-year-old had said in November that he expected to keep playing for ‘one or two years’.
Speaking to Vogue, he explained: “This will probably be my last year in football and I want to leave a spectacular legacy.
“I already have my entire future planned. I have so many things to keep me busy that it’s difficult to name just one.
“Since football can leave a great void, it’s necessary to fill the time in various ways, not just one.
“And also to have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, which I really enjoy, and continue to enjoy what I’ve achieved, what we’ve achieved. After all, it’s been 25 years with a lot of sacrifice.”
