Major League Soccer Eastern Conference table topper’s Nashville SC demolished Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami by a 4-1 scoreline at Geodis park in their matchday (19) encounter.
Midfielder Andy Najar opened the scoring for the home side on the sixth minute mark. Inter Miami were handed a lifeline on the 21st minute when they were awarded a penalty after striker Luis Suarez was fouled in the box.
Lionel Messi stepped up and missed the spot kick but made amends deep into first half stoppage time when he provided a brilliant assist for winger Talasco Segovia to level the scores at one all heading into the halftime break.
Back from the recess Inter Miami collapsed completely as Nashville run riot over the visitors with a quick fire three goals in fourteen minutes.
Striker Hany Mukhtar scored a brace coupled with Sam surridge’s lone strike to put a gloss on the scoreline for the home team thereby condemning Inter Miami to a damaging defeat in the league.
Nashville have a firm grip on top spot as they have opened a five point lead on top of the Eastern Conference table after matchday nineteen.
In other selected games Houston Dynamo beat LA Galaxy by 1-0 scoreline, Atlanta United 2-1 New York Red Bulls , CF Montreal and DC United settled for a 1-1 stalemate, Charlotte 3-1 Columbus Crew , Orlando City 1-1 FC Cincinnati , Toronto FC and New England Revolution settled for a 2-1 scoreline.
