Nations shock Kotoko, Gold Stars maintain top spot as Hearts woes continues

Date:

Nations Football Club have beaten regional rivals Asante Kotoko to usurp them of their second position on the Ghana Premier League table.

Following two successive draws, Asante Kotoko played away at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex against Nations FC in matchday 28.

Nafiu Suleman and Emmanuel Annor bagged a goal each as fans witnessed Kotoko being brushed aside of the title race on Sunday afternoon.

At Dun’s Park, Samuel Atta Kumi scored a late penalty winner as Bibiani Gold Stars maintained their lead at the top of the league with a dramatic 1-0 win over 2022-23 champions, Medeama SC.

In the battle of the Lions at the Kpando Stadium, a goal by Yaw Danso and a brace from Nana Kwame Oppong saw Heart of Lions defeat Accra Lions 3-1. David Akintunde scored the consolation goal for the boys from Accra.

Hearts of Oak’s poor run continued as they drew blank with Karela United at the Accra Sports Stadium in front of their disappointing-looking supporters.
