2026 FIFA WCQ: Haiti appoints former assistant to Rigobert Song as head coach

Date:

Sébastien Migné takes over as head coach of gang violence-ravaged Haiti.

The French international served as an assistant coach to Cameroonian legendary footballer and coach Rigobert Song.

Migné, 51, has been tasked with leading the Haitians to their first World Cup amidst the political and social chaos on the Caribbean island.

He spoke to the BBC, revealing why he decided to take up this arduous task.

“The project is interesting; Haiti has a good past in football. The idea is to write a new story with the players, and we have a fantastic opportunity because the USA, Canada, and Mexico have already qualified [as joint hosts].

“They know exactly what we want to create, and that is to qualify for the World Cup.”
