The head coach of FC Samartex, Nurudeen Amadu, has rued his team’s failure to convert their chances during the 2-2 draw match with Raja Club Athletic on Sunday.
Raja Club Athletic, popularly referred to as Raja Casablanca, pegged back the 2023-24 Ghana Premier League champions after right-back Mohammed Boulascot scored in the 62nd minute.
Prior to the Moroccan giants’ equalizer, Michael Ephson had given the Ghanaians the lead just before halftime after Francis Gyentuah cancelled out Mohammed Azrid’s opener.
Nurudeen Amadu believed the Timber Boys should’ve made good use of the chances they created in front of goal. He spoke to Yaw Ampofo Ankrah after the game.
“We were wasteful in front of goal. I think that caused this. We are aware that when you make a minor mistake, they punish you for that, but we are going to fight back because we have seen how they play now, and I’ll know how to strategize with all of their antics,” he said.
Samartex will have to change their game plan and take their chances as they head into the second leg in Casablanca on Saturday, September 21.
