Nigerian afrobeat singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known in the industry as Wizkid, is now ranked as Africa’s highest-earning artist on Spotify.
He is the top earner on the continent, bringing in an astonishing $1 million a month from the streaming service.
This was made known according to data from the music analytics company Chart Masters.
Burna Boy occupied the second position, earning $782,148 each month, while Tems placed third with $660,210.
After releasing “Holla at Your Boy,” the lead single from his first studio album, “Superstar,” in 2011, Wizkid gained notoriety.
He became well-known worldwide in 2016 after a collaboration with American rapper Drake on the hit song “One Dance,” which peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and at the top of the charts in 14 other countries.
He inked a multi-album contract with RCA Records in March 2017, and his third studio album, “Sounds from the Other Side,” was released later that year.
In October 2020, he released his fourth album, ‘Made in Lagos,’ which became number one on the Billboard World Album Chart.
He had received several awards and was featured by Beyoncé, Chris Brown, and many other foreign singers.
