Liberian-born Ghana-based Afropop artiste, JZyNO says he has declined all record label deals after his first label sacked him for failing to sing political songs to project a particular political party.
According to him, his label boss described him as unserious and not ready to make money in the industry.
JZyNO said this during an interview with the Max Morning Show in Accra on Wednesday.
He stated that he was not interested in engaging in partisan politics but was ready to partner with a particular government to roll out an initiative that would help the youth.
“I am not interested in going to join a political party in doing this or that… naaah… I am not interested because I got some bad experience,” JZyNO said.
The fast-rising artiste indicated that his first manager, on whom he solely depended, fired him for his inability to sing a political song.
“He was a great Manager, but that little sad line that he told me to do a political song and I refused. It was the last thing I refused and he was like… You are not serious. You are not ready… You want to be an artist with an empty pocket? You want to be a musician and be broke? So he sacked me from the record label,” he sadly narrated.
JZyNo explained that it was his first opportunity with a record label, and since then, he has refused to accept any record deal.
“Unless the label is coming with something that I don’t have or I don’t know of because when the record deals kept coming in I said to myself, I can do it on my own,” he added.
