Renowned rapper Armstrong Affum, known in the industry as Dadie Opanka, says the fight against the Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO) for better royalties will not yield.
According to him, there are no better systems in place to even give accurate data on how royalties are collected and distributed.
Speaking in an interview with Max Drive in Accra on Friday, the “Wedding Car” hitmaker stated that musicians had fought over the years with GHAMRO to prioritise their welfare, yet the organisation was not ready to change.
He noted that the fight did not yield, and even if musicians come together once again to keep fighting, it would still not yield.
Dadie Opanka, therefore, advised musicians to explore other royalty platforms where their system was advanced and upgraded to gain what was due to them.
He gave the advice when he revealed on Max FM that he received over Gh¢400 in royalties from GHAMRO at the end of the year.
Dadie Opanka said he was not bothered that much because he knew how the organisation worked, as some of his colleagues were taking Gh¢ 100 to Gh¢ 500 a year.
To avoid the trouble, he said he had joined international platforms where he could access his money to gain what was due him.
