The sister of global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, Elma Aveiro, has come out in defense of her brother following comments by retired Italian footballer Antonio Cassano.
According to Cassano, the five-time UEFA Champions League winner does not know how to play football, causing a whole lot of conversation on social media.
He said, via GOAL, “Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play football. He could score 3000 goals I don’t give a f*ck.
“[Gonzalo] Higuain, [Sergio] Aguero, [Karim] Benzema, [Robert] Lewandowski, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and [Luis] Suarez knew how to link-up with the team.
“They knew how to do a lot of things, unlike Ronaldo whose only objective has always been to score.”
Elma retorted in defense of Ronaldo, who has over 900 goals to his name.
“One wakes up to these things. I don’t know this poor guy. It doesn’t matter, but just one thing for him, he doesn’t know how to score 900 goals,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Imagine if he did. They say he was a footballer. I think they’re wrong, he was certainly a ball boy,” she replied.
