The early 2000s saw Ghana’s hiplife genre rise to the pinnacle of African music with the likes of Castro, Mzbel, Obuor, Batman (known currently as Samini), and a host of others.
Social media platform ‘X’ implodes as the verse of Samini on Obuor’s popular hit ‘Konkotiba’ retrospectively received a major backlash.
Commentators on the ‘X’ influencer NebaSark’s post of Dj Pakorich’s view on Samini’s verse have attributed the hiplife and reggae/dancehall lyrics as those of a paedophile.
In his vernacular verse as translated by Max Online’s UNIMAC intern Samuella Mantebea Okanta shades light of understanding of Samini’s words, which read as follows:
I like them young; I like them young.
Who doesn’t desire it? Even if she’s 3 years old
I still want her.
I like them young; I like them young.
She does everything. Who doesn’t desire it?
Even if she’s small and young
I still want her.
She’s young and is the same age as my younger sibling.
Is there any man without desire?
Stop talking because if you had it, you would like it.
Young girl, you’re the one I’ll stay with.
Come join me and let us live together.
After having had a digest of these lyrics, many have begun calling out the legendary musician Samini, but one can also argue that music back then was mostly wordplay and jokes.

What this man is saying makes sense tho. With all due respect Samini and Obour should stop performing konkontiba !!
