Former Black Stars striker Prince Tagoe has finally revealed how his move to German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim nearly ended after a fake heart-related issue.

The lanky forward earned a move to the German side in 2009, but was released from his contract immediately after only 51 days due to heart issues which the club confirmed after a test.

Tagoe’s lawyer contested the dismissal as a second opinion did not yield evidence of a heart condition and was resigned to Hoffenheim.

Prince Tagoe, speaking on the Black Stars Classics on Max TV gave details of how he went through the ordeal to get back on the field.

“I was told by Hoffenheim Doctors I had a heart problem which was hereditary. I was surprised and had to do my own private check, I visited a Doctor who was one of the best in that field and it came out that there was nothing wrong with me. I and my agent decided to sue the club because my contract was cancelled. The German FA heard of the news and decided to present a private Doctor for another test, I did it and it came out negative again, my licence was given to me to start playing and the coach of the club was sacked”.

Tagoe 33, played for Hearts of Oak, Ittihad, Bursaspor among others. He also played 36 times and scored 7 goals in the process.
