The Ghana Police Service has opened investigations into the 88 persons arrested at Benchema near Asawinso on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
The suspects, consisting of 86 men and 2 women, were intercepted while travelling in Metro Mass Transit buses with registration numbers “GN 5148-22” and “GN 5177-23.”
The preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the individuals were recruited by an individual named Sammy.
These individuals, currently in custody, are believed to be from Adenta, Oyarifa, and Madina, as they had been recruited for private security gigs.
This comes after the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Chairman of the National Election Security Taskforce (NESTF), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, warned against private security interfering in the elections.
