Over the past years, the good people of Ghana have witnessed numerous ministerial vettings, but almost none could be compared to that of Sam Naterh George.
Sam George, popularly known among the youth as ‘Dzata,’ appeared before the Appointment Committee of the Parliament of Ghana to be vetted for the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation position.
Though a faction of viewers and sympathizers of the minority caucus in Parliament would argue the Deputy Chair of the Committee, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, is simply and diligently fulfilling his role, others may bet otherwise.
Attempting to determine Sam George’s sources of income during the sitting, Afenyo-Markin, appearing eager to oust the honorable nominee’s secondary source of income after establishing the primary, received a response, which got him looking confused, while others were humoured.
“Mr. Chairman, I am married to an industrious woman,” Afenyo-Markin, on seeking clarity on the honorable nominee’s answer to his secondary source of income, was met with a humourous response: “my wife takes care of me.”
He further established that though he stated on record his wife takes care of him, he doesn’t take money from her.
