The echoes of groans, moans and “loud” tears are still reverberating a decade after the pain.
Thursday 2nd July 2020, marks exactly 10 years to the day when Luiz Suarez of Uruguay, stopped a goal-bound shot with his hands to kill the Ghanaian and African World Cup dream.
The momentum that was halted at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and a certain victory that would have secured a semi final berth at South Africa 2010, still haunts the continent.
A straight red card to the devilish South American, before Asamoah Gyan stepped up to smash his penalty against the bar finally broke the heart of a nation.
Thus, the dream of a historical semi final or final berth on African soil was lost.
Today’s kick-off to the World Cup Edition of Max Tv’s Black Stars Classics, would be graced by no less a personality than former Black Stars’ Captain Stephen “Tornado” Appiah.
Also worthy to note is Yaw Ampofo Ankrah’s returns to TV to anchor the BLACK STARS CLASSICS (World Cup Edition).
This 90 minute per epidode series on Max TV, begins airing live on Thursday 2nd July at 3:30pm.
The series puts a spotlight on Ghana’s participation st three World Cups and promises tons of bitter-sweet memories.
