MAX NEWS: Guinness world record approves Ghanaian Journalist for sing-a-thon

Date:

Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, a journalist from Ghana, has been granted approval by Guinness World Records to attempt the longest individual singathon.

She plans to sing for a duration ranging from 117 to 120 hours, exclusively singing songs from Ghana in celebration of highlife, hiplife, and gospel genres. Each song will be limited to a maximum of two minutes, and she can only repeat the same songs after a four-hour interval, in accordance with the regulations set by @GWR. As a women’s empowerment advocate, Afua hopes to inspire and motivate others through her singing marathon.

Afua is planning to break the current record for the singing marathon, which was established in 2012 by Indian Sunil Waghmare and stands at 105 hours. She is seeking support from Ghanaians for the marathon, which is scheduled for this December.

Ghanaians on social media support the news. Some doubt her ability to break the record, while others believe in her success with their backing.

In November, Irish chef Alan Fisher broke the record for the longest marathon cooking session with a time of 119 hours and 57 minutes, dethroning Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, who held the previous record of 93 hours and 11 minutes.

Guinness World Records is a British reference book that documents human achievements and the extremes of nature. It was first published in 1955 and was previously known as the Guinness Book of Records until 1999.
