Max News: Asamoah Gyan throws his weight behind Mahama

Date:

Record goal scorer for the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan, has passionately called for Ghanaians to adopt a collaborative spirit to support president-elect John Dramani Mahama.

The former Sunderland striker, once known for his political affiliation to the rival party to that of Mr Mahama’s, the New Patriotic Party, congratulated the incoming president of the Republic of Ghana.

Asamoah Gyan, popularly known as ‘Baby Jet,’ insisted that Ghanaians support the government despite their political beliefs, considering the current woeful economic state of the country.

“You know, when there is an issue, I will share my thoughts. Let’s support the government. Any government that comes to power, let’s support them. When you go and buy things at GHC 50 and you sell them at GHC 1000, the country will go through hardship,” he said in a live social media stream.

He therefore urged Ghanaians to support the incoming government, led by Mr Mahama, saying “Ghana has decided. Let’s put party politics aside, and if your party has won, focus on government, and for us as citizens, we will also support.”
