MAX ENTERTAINMENT: Sarkodie concerned about mortuary workers’ strike

Date:

Hiplife artiste Sarkodie has advocated for the right of mortuary men to be respected and should also be given decent pay to ensure they discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.

He described it as unfortunate that people who work in the morgue are underrated and not well resourced.

Sarkodie expressed his grievances in a recent tweet after the Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) declared its intention to embark on a nationwide strike starting Wednesday, November 29, 2023, over poor working conditions.

The association said its action was in accordance with Section 159 of Act 651 (2003) of the Constitution to exercise their fundamental human rights as enshrined in the 1992 Constitution.

In response to MOWAG action, Sarkodie has appealed to the necessary authorities to work to ensure that the rights of Ghanaian mortuary men are respected while meeting their demands.

He admitted that the strike would heavily affect Ghanaians, adding that mortuary men were doing risky jobs and hence needed to be well taken care of.

“This will affect us heavy … Yes I wouldn’t want a strike especially from “them” but I understand… this is one of the underrated / underpaid jobs yet one of the hardest and riskiest jobs. They deserve the right salary , equipment and environment to work effectively … We can…,” he tweeted.
