Renowned rapper Okyeame Kwame says he is not ready to sacrifice his image to obtain any leadership role in the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
According to him, the job is demanding, and he is not mentally prepared for it.
Speaking in a media interview, Okyeame Kwame noted that obtaining a leadership role would come with a cost.
“If I go, I may see negative headlines. I am not ready to sacrifice my image for MUSIGA; maybe in the future. But for now, I am okay with being a member,” he added.
The “Woara” hitmaker said musicians were leaders by themselves, with millions of followers on their social media, so if a musician assumed any leadership role, indirectly, the person becomes a leader of leaders.
“All these leaders have their own ideas and styles of leading to success. So immediately you position yourself in front of them, you have to be as dedicated as Obour was and be focused on doing it with all intensity; otherwise, you will fail,” he said.
Okyeame Kwame stated that he had worked with MUSIGA and GHAMRO before, but he realized that he could not handle the job since he was not mentally prepared for it.
“To tell you the truth, I am currently not psychologically prepared to be able to lead leaders. I think that it’s not yet my time. I’ve worked with MUSIGA and GHAMRO and realized that I could not handle all that. Maybe in the future, I might,” he added.
