“Let Me Shine in My Own Way” – Quarme Zaggy Reacts to Comparisons with Kwabena Kwabena

Date:

Highlife musician Quarme Zaggy has urged Ghanaians to stop comparing him to fellow Highlife star Kwabena Kwabena, saying the constant comparisons have negatively affected his growth in the music industry.

Speaking during an interview on the entertainment program “Showbiz Max,” Quarme Zaggy explained that while he respects Kwabena Kwabena’s talent and achievements, he believes it is time for people to allow him to build his own identity and shine in his own unique way.

According to Zaggy, the comparisons have created a perception that overshadows his individuality as an artist. He acknowledged that Kwabena Kwabena has worked hard and paid his dues in the Ghanaian music scene, but stressed that every musician deserves the opportunity to be recognized for their own style and contribution to Highlife music.

Speaking to entertainment host Kumi Kasa on Max FM 89.7, Zaggy said there is nothing wrong if listeners feel his sound is similar to Kwabena Kwabena’s, as Highlife musicians often share influences. However, he emphasized that such similarities should not limit how people appreciate his craft, adding that he is focused on carving out his own path in the industry. He’s currently making waves with his new song “FEVER”.
