The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, is expected to run unopposed for a place on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the 14th General Assembly.
The Marriott Mena House in Cairo, Egypt, will host the event on March 12, 2025, as heads of member countries’ football federations are expected to be present.
Frederick Acheampong, an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association, opined on the Sports Pack show on Max FM how the GFA president’s confirmation on CAF’s Executive Council would have a positive impact on Ghanaian football.
“There’s no direct competition against him. Burkina Faso’s new football federation failed to file his nomination at West Zone B. Even if he filed today, it’s clear that our president (Kurt Okraku) would win.
By the close of the General Assembly, the president would become a member of the Executive Committee, which would be positive for Ghana football because he would be part of the major decision-makers at CAF,” he said to Nana Darkwa Gyasi.
Kurt Okraku would become the sixth Ghanaian to serve on CAF’s Executive Committee.
