MC Nuffy, the Jamaican master of ceremonies at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street Concert has rebuked critics who saw Shatta Wale’s act at the concert as devaluing himself on the international stage.
According to him, Shatta Wale showed respect and love to the headline artiste, Vybz Kartel, who had spent 13 years behind bars.
Speaking in an exclusive phone interview with Max Drive in Accra last Thursday, MC Nuffy explained that Shatta Wale showed the needed respect to Vybz Kartel.
He said the self-acclaimed dancehall king in Ghana knelt to further show his appreciation to the Jamaican legend.
MC Nuffy did not consider Shatta’s act as reducing his value as an artist but rather saw it as adding value to himself to prove his humility and culture.
That, he said earned the Ghanaian Art so much love in Jamaica, adding that “we can’t wait to see Shatta Wale again.”
It could be recalled that after Shatta Wale performed at the Freedom Street Concert held at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, in December, many critics condemned the act of the only African dancehall artist who performed at the occasion.
They claimed Shatta Wale was a big art in Africa and condemned him for kneeling in front of Vybz Kartel while referring to the Jamaican art as “daddy.”
The critics insisted that Shatta Wale devalued himself and went further to also condemn his choice of songs he sang at the concert.
