Hearts are on TOP (for now)

Date:

Accra Hearts of Oak are now top of the Ghana Premier League standings, as matchday 23 kicked off on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The league resumed following the murder and burial of famous Kotoko fan, Nana Pooley, on Saturday in Legon, Accra.

Young Apostles made a long trip from Wenchi to Accra to take on Coach Aboubakar Ouattara’s Hearts of Oak in a game which ended being one-sided, with the latter recording a dominant 2-0 victory.

With January signing Seth Osei starting from then bench, Michael Mensah Awuah scored the home team’s first of the game in a scrappy manner two minutes before halftime.

An unfortunate Rahman Abdul own-goal sealed a deserving win for Hearts of Oak after their disappointing exit from the 2024-25 MTN FA Cup just a week ago.

The rest of the fixtures for matchday 23 would come off on Sunday including Asante Kotoko’s home fixture against Yaw Acheampong’s Legon Cities at 3 p.m.
