GHALCA Distances from GFA Tenure Limit Amendment

Date:

The Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Board, Dr Nyarko Oduro, has announced that GHALCA is distancing itself from the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) proposed constitutional amendment to introduce a three-term presidential tenure limit.

According to Dr Oduro, GHALCA’s decision to distance itself from the GFA’s proposal is due to concerns that the amendment may be tailored to benefit specific individuals rather than serving the best interests of Ghanaian football as a whole.

Dr Oduro Nyarko emphasised that GHALCA’s primary focus is on promoting the welfare and development of member clubs, and they are also working tirelessly to organise a good top 4 tournament coming up later this month, and any decisions or proposals should align with this objective.

He further stated that GHALCA would continue to engage with stakeholders to ensure that any constitutional amendments benefit the entire football fraternity.

The development has sparked a debate within the football community, with some stakeholders calling for greater transparency and accountability in the GFA’s decision-making processes.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the GFA will respond to GHALCA’s decision and whether the proposed amendment will be pushed forward.
