Interim assistant coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, Ibrahim Tanko, has assured focus on the Somalia double-legged tie in November 2026.
Ghana stand the not-so-surprising possibility of failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations for the second consecutive time.
The Black Stars under the former leadership of Portuguese gaffer Carlos Queiroz endured a torrid start to the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
The four-time African champion lost to the Ivory Coast and the Gambia, forcing Queiroz to leave his job before the setup of the new interim technical team led by Kim Lars Bjoekegren.
“We cannot afford to look too far ahead without first taking care of the immediate task,” he told Joy Sports.
“The Somalia matches are our priority. If we can get the right results and build momentum, we can approach the next qualifiers with renewed confidence,” he added.
CAF has approved the two ties to be played at the Essipong Sports Stadium in Takoradi.
