The Ghana Education Service (GES) has rescheduled the reopening of single-track senior high schools (SHSs) from March 29, 2025, to April 23, 2025.
According to a March 27 circular signed by Prince C. Agyeman-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, the change is due to the Eid-Ul-Fitr public holidays on March 30 and 31, 2025, and subsequent additional holidays declared by the President.
GES clarified that the new date is aimed at reducing travel risks for students and ensuring a smooth return to class after the break.
Double-track SHSs will maintain their original academic calendar, while measures will be implemented to compensate for lost instructional time for final-year students preparing for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
This decision ensures that school reopening does not clash with a series of public holidays, including Easter, promoting safety and continuity in the academic calendar.
