The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has denied reports that it froze the bank accounts of Richard Nii Armah Quaye, founder of Bills Micro Credit Ltd.
In a statement on March 27, 2025, the GRA clarified that while Quaye faces a GH₵30 million tax assessment, no enforcement actions, such as account freezing, have been taken.
“The Authority has assessed his income taxes but has not initiated any enforcement measures,” the statement read, urging the public to disregard false claims.
The GRA emphasized its commitment to due process, stating that account garnishments only occur when taxpayers fail to cooperate. It also encouraged voluntary tax compliance to avoid penalties and legal action.
Background
Quaye recently marked his 40th birthday with a lavish celebration at Black Star Square, attended by top business moguls like Dr. Osei Kwame Despite and Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong. The star-studded event featured performances from Davido, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy.
