Fiifi Tackie, spokesperson for the Ayew family, has criticized Black Stars head coach Otto Addo over his recent comments regarding Andre Ayew’s exclusion from the national team.
In an interview on the portals on March 27, Addo stated that Ayew had fallen down the Black Stars pecking order, despite his strong performances for Le Havre in Ligue 1. The former Ghana captain was again left out of Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Tackie expressed disappointment, calling Addo’s remarks “shocking and disrespectful.”
“Andre Ayew is Ghana’s most-capped player, a three-time World Cup veteran, and a proven leader. His commitment to the Black Stars is undeniable. It is baffling that a coach who failed to qualify for AFCON 2025 would dismiss a player consistently performing at club level,” Tackie stated.
He further argued that Addo’s comments undermine Ayew’s sacrifices and contributions to Ghanaian football, calling them unprofessional and disrespectful.
Ayew last featured for the Black Stars in March 2024, during a 2-2 draw with Uganda in an international friendly.
