The Ga Traditional Council has announced the annual ban on drumming and noise-making as part of preparations for this year’s Ga Homowo festival.
The ban, which runs from May 12 to June 12, 2025, would affect every form of noise-making, such as the use of musical instruments, clapping of hands, and hosting of funerals in the Ga state.
The ban is a unique cultural practice of the Ga people to enhance an atmosphere of serenity and spiritual reflection.
Areas such as Osu, La, Teshie, Nungua, Tema, Kpone, Prampram, and Ningo will announce specific dates for implementation after June 12, as residents have been advised to adhere to the directions.
“We encourage all residents, visitors, and institutions to respect this cultural practice,” Sylvester Parker Allotey, spokesperson of the Ga Traditional Council, urged.
