Slavko Vinčić will no longer officiate matches at the highest level. The Slovenian Football Association (NZS) has confirmed that the 46-year-old referee is officially ending his career.
This announcement comes just days after the 2026 World Cup final, where the Slovenian was selected by FIFA to referee the showdown between Argentina and Spain.
Before the final, several names were rumored to be in contention for this honor, notably Szymon Marciniak and Alireza Faghani.
Ultimately, FIFA placed its trust in Slavko Vinčić for what would be the last match of his distinguished career.
Despite criticism received during the season following several European matches, the Slovenian ended his journey with one of the highest honors a referee can achieve.
