Court Injunction Halts Daddy Lumba’s Burial

Date:

The Accra High Court has granted an injunction in favour of the maternal family of the late Daddy Lumba.

The maternal family of the late highlife music legend filed an application seeking to prevent the release of his body without their consent.

The ruling on the application, filed on Thursday, December 11, 2025, was adjourned to Friday, December 12, 2025, just a day before the paternal family of Daddy Lumba planned to hold his burial.

The plaintiffs prayed to the court to block the first defendant, Kofi Owusu Abuakwa of Kumasi, and members of the dissolved funeral committee from accessing the Daddy Lumba Memorial Foundation CAL Bank account.

The substantive case will continue in court till a final ruling, determining the legal and customary rights of parties.
