Ghana’s Kumasi Asante Kotoko has qualified for the last preliminary round for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The reigning MTN FA Cup champions defeated Nigeria’s Kwara United 0-1 in the second leg after a high-scoring first-leg win in Accra just a week ago.
Off-season signing Hubert Gyau scored the only goal of the game in Abekouta, Nigeria, to hand Ghana a chance of competing in Africa’s second biggest inter-club competition.
The 20-year-old tricky winger fired into the bottom left corner from just outside the penalty box in the 52nd minute, cementing the spot of Kotoko in the last round of qualifiers.
Kotoko will have to overcome a giant of Moroccan football, Wydad AC, to reach the group stages of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
