Two Nigerian nationals have been sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment each after attempting to acquire Ghana Cards.
The two were convicted for using false identities, such as Alex Kwesi Brown Appiah, whose real name is Ike Isaac, and Innocent Emmanuel Kodom, whose real name is Emmanuel Innocent Egbe.
Judge Susana Nyakotey, presiding over the case at the Madina District Court II, pronounced judgement following a full trial on Friday, November 7, 2025.
The Nigerians were charged with providing false information to national identification registration officials under Section 40(1)(a) of the National Identity Register Act, 2008 (Act 750), and possessing forged documents under Section 166 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Isaac and Egbe will be deported to Nigeria immediately after serving their 12 months for false information and 13 months for possessing forged documents, which will run concurrently.
