Abu Francis Suffers Broken Leg Against Japan

Date:

Toulouse star midfielder Abu Francis can consider his season over after suffering a broken leg on Friday, November 14, 2025.

Abu Francis, who joined the Ligue 1 club from Belgian side Cercle Brugge over the summer, featured for the Black Stars of Ghana against Japan in the 2025 Kirin Championship.

The versatile midfielder was attempting to prevent Tanaka Ao from firing a shot five minutes into the second half.

Francis instead had his right leg between the ball and Tanaka’s right leg. The full force of the Japanese player’s leg accidentally struck Francis’ leg, leaving him in intense agony.

The sad sight of the Ghanaian player in immense pain was a cause of worry for both sets of players.

The Ghana Football Association and Toulouse FC are yet to comment on the current state of the player.
