Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has commended his team for their win over Kwara United.
The 2024/25 MTN FA Cup winners displayed immense tactical brilliance and discipline as they completed a home and away win over Kwara United in Abekouta.
Hubert Gyau, who joined from Berekum Chelsea before the start of the season, netted the winner for Kotoko in the 52nd minute of the match.
Speaking after the match, a proud Karim Zito commended his side’s ability to overcome the “occupational hazard” they endured in the first leg, in which they conceded three goals despite scoring four.
“In football there’s something called occupational hazard, which happened to us in Ghana. Fortunately, it didn’t repeat here. After analysing the first-leg video, we realised we gave them [Kwara] too much space…they couldn’t play after denying them space [in the second leg],” Zito said to the press.
Zito will have to prep his team – tactically and psychologically – against their next opponent, Wydad AC – a typical North African team known for their tricky arts and tactical discipline.
