Boxing fraternity let down Neequaye out of fear of NSA and Sports Ministry

Date:

Astute lecturer, journalist, and boxing connoisseur, Sheikh Amin Lamptey, has let out a bombshell that could rock the boxing fraternity.

The respected Sheikh has alleged a major part of the boxing fraternity are in fear of being victimised by the National Sports Authority (NSA) and Ministry of Sports Recreation.

Amin Lamptey followed Abraham Neequaye’s precedence in stepping down as president of the Ghana Boxing Authority.

His assertion, revealed on Max FM’s Sports Pack, depicted the aforementioned fraction of the fraternity “sat behind the fences” during and after the Amarkai Amartefio-led committee probe into the Abraham Neequaye-led GBA administration.

“Abraham Neequaye has gone through a lot. One factor that informed his decision to resign is because he realised the majority of the boxing fraternity were sitting behind the fence, watching whatever was going on. Most of them refuse to be close to him out of fear of being victimised by the ministry and NSA,” Sheikh Amin said.

He purported the happenings as a sort of witch hunt, as the minister for sports and recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, failed to allow Mr Neequaye to confirm or deny allegations made against him (Neequaye) by stakeholders interviewed during the probe.
