Former Chelsea defender Baba Rahman has confirmed his openness to rejoining the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars, soon.
The 30-year-old took a sabbatical leave from the Black Stars following a series of poor performances that triggered angry Ghanaian football fans.
Rahman, in an interview with the BBC, insisted he had to take a break from the national team to focus on his fitness and health, suffering ACL tears in 2017 and 2020.
According to the former Asante Kotoko left-back, he joined PAOK Thessaloniki on a permanent basis two seasons ago after a season-long loan from Chelsea.
“When I joined PAOK last year, I just thought it was wise to stay away a bit from international football to get my fitness back.”
He has been putting in fantastic displays since moving to Greece and now feels it is about time for a return to the national team.
“Fans are asking me all the time to come back to play for Ghana but I think I need to take care of my health before everything right now,” Rahman added.
“People know about my injury history and it has really been a difficult few years. I just want to enjoy my club football again and then I know my international career will take off again too.”
