African singing damsels, Nigeria’s Tems, and South Africa’s Tyla were recognized for their hard work in the last year at the Los Angeles Peacock Theater on Sunday night.
Tems won the ‘Dr. Bobby Jones’ Best Gospel/Inspirational Awards, beating global musical heavyweights such as Kirk Franklin, Maverick City, Caesar, Erica Campbell, Halle Angel, and Cece Winans to it.
Meanwhile, Tyla saw off competition from Ayra Starr, Asake, Cleo Sol, Raye, and others to win the Best International Act.
