Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare extends Hearts of Oak contract after penning a new two-year deal with the Accra-based giants. The contract extension solidifies Asare’s commitment to the club, keeping him in the Ghana Premier League until 2027.
The Accra Hearts of Oak captain’s original contract was due to expire in 2026. However, following positive negotiations with the club’s hierarchy, Asare agreed to new terms with improved conditions of service.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper, who joined from Accra Great Olympics, had recently drawn interest from top North African sides, including Raja Casablanca and CR Belouizdad, who reportedly contacted his representatives. Despite these offers, Benjamin Asare remains committed to Hearts of Oak, signaling his desire to stay with the Ghanaian giants.
Asare’s stock has risen significantly following his stellar debut for the Ghana national team. He kept two consecutive clean sheets in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, earning him the number one spot ahead of Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Jojo Wollacott.
In the ongoing Ghana Premier League, Asare has been in top form—keeping 13 clean sheets in 20 appearances and conceding only eight goals. His performances have been crucial to Hearts of Oak’s strong defensive record this season.
