FC Samartex have conceded defeat in their bid to retain the Ghana Premier League (GPL) title.
Paul Anyaba, the business development manager of the Sameraboi-based team, confirmed in an interview with Max TV, considering the team’s current position in the GPL.
Having stunned many by beating Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Medeama SC, and a host of other clubs to win their first-ever Premier Division league title.
“I’m a realist; sometimes you need to look at all the factors and admit to reality. Looking at the position of Kotoko, Goldstars, Hearts of Oak, and all the dynamics, I think that we have to play and get a respectable position and rather focus on next season,” Anyaba confessed to Nana Darkwa Gyasi.
Samartex parted ways with their championship-winning head coach Nurudeen Adams in the course of the 2024—25 season following a string of poor performances, despite the latter citing administrative challenges as the reason for his departure.
The appointment of Christopher Ennin as Adams’ replacement has turned out to be an important strategic move to steer the club to safety, with their current 9th position in the league table as proof.
