Leicester City have been relegated to the third division of English football, ten years after winning the Premier League against all odds.

This is the second time Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has suffered relegation, while for his compatriot, Fatawu Issahaku, it is his first.

It has been a free fall from grace for the Foxes after stunning football-loving fans around the world by beating the top sides in first division to emerge champions.

Since their Premier League triumph in 2016, Leicester City won the FA Cup and the community shield, reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League, suffered relegation, moved back up before being knocked down a level, and now crashing out again to another lower division.

Leicester began the campaign already six points adrift due to a financial-fair-play penalty then only managed to win once out of their last 18 matches.

Fans were heard calling drastic measures to be made on the club’s board and demanding the Foxes’ Thai owner Khun Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha to leave.
