Parliament will begin vetting the first batch of ministerial nominees submitted by President John Dramani Mahama today, January 13, 2025.
The vetting process starts with Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam and Majority Leader, nominated as Minister-designate for Finance. His nomination comes amid economic challenges, including high inflation, rising public debt, and demands for sustainable reforms.
The Appointments Committee, constituted on January 9, 2025, will then vet John Abdulai Jinapor, nominated as Minister-designate for Energy. A former Deputy Minister of Energy, Jinapor is expected to address critical issues in the energy sector, such as power reliability, renewable energy development, and energy sector debt.
The final nominee scheduled for vetting is Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, nominated as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. The Bolgatanga East MP, an expert in constitutional law and governance, is anticipated to outline his vision for legal reforms, promoting the rule of law, and ensuring justice for all Ghanaians.
These proceedings mark a significant step in shaping the government’s leadership to address pressing national issues.
