Cameroon wanted the win more than us— Kim Lars

Date:

Head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, shared a candid opinion after Ghana’s defeat in the 2026 WAFCON.

The Black Queens suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in matchday 2 of the competition in Morocco.

A first-half penalty from Marie Gisele Ngah Manga proved the difference in a closely contested encounter.

Reacting to his team’s defeat, Kim Lars insisted that the Cameroonians wanted the victory more.

“It was a physical game, which I felt that they played more physically, especially in the first half. They won almost every 50-50 duel… They were better than us. They wanted this a little bit more in the first half with the 1-0 at halftime.”

The Black Queens are now third on the Group D standings after Mali edged Cape Verde in a five-goal thriller.

Ghana will take on Mali on Thursday, August 6, for a place in the knockout phase.
