The Executive Director of Sanitation Ghana, a non-governmental organisation, Papa Sanitation, has called on the government to reintroduce the sanitation taskforce to ensure proper sanitation is maintained in the country.

‎According to him, the absence of town councils has led many people in the country to litter around.

‎Speaking in an interview with Max Morning Show in Accra on Friday to mark the National Sanitation Day, Papa Sanitation mentioned that some Ghanaians were not maintaining a proper hygienic environment at home and on the streets.

‎”Last time, I witnessed someone offloading certain bags on streets at dawn, thinking the person was going to the market. I returned to find the sacks there, and I realised they were garbage. If these town councillors were on the streets, they would have noticed,” he said.

‎Reintroducing the town councillors, Papa Sanitation said, would ensure sanitation laws were enforced and adhered to.
