‎Ghana has no proper measures to preserve arts—Samuel Owusu

Date:

Veteran highlife musician Samuel Owusu says the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC), has not implemented any proper measures to preserve the art and culture of the country.

‎According to him, the Ministry has failed the music industry, leading the fine art ought to be reserved for the future generations destroyed.

‎Speaking exclusively with Max Morning Show in Accra on Thursday, the “Abusua Kyiri Ka” hitmaker stated that the country’s music which promotes culture was in limbo since the Ministry in charge of it had failed to properly perform its needed duties.

‎”What are we doing to preserve our Cocoa? Is there no Ministry in charge? The same way when it comes to music there’s a Ministry responsible for that. That Ministry has to roll out proper measures for our culture to be preserved,” he stated.

‎Samuel Owusu maintained that the failure of the government in monitoring its appointees at the Ministries has contributed to the malfunctioning of the Minister in charge of the creative art sector.

‎”What structures have we put in place? Are the structures working? Are those responsible for the sector being monitored by those who appointed them for them to deliver on their mandate? We are in an industry where those doing music, movies and painting are all struggling while there’s a leader appointed to oversee those challenges and solve them but nothing is done,” he lamented.
