Tuba is on fire — not from heatwaves, but from the passion of football fans rallying behind their teams in this season’s MTN FA Cup semifinals. The spotlight is on Golden Kick SC and Attram De Visser Academy, two exciting, youth-driven clubs who both call Tuba home.
And with both sides set to clash in a mouth-watering semifinal, the call from the fans is unified and clear.
Though the MTN FA Cup organizers have reportedly earmarked the Tarkwa and Aboso (T&A) Park for the showdown, fans, stakeholders, and local football enthusiasts are pushing back, arguing that since both teams are based in Tuba, the match should come off in Tuba to get the necessary mileage
“This is a Tuba derby. Both teams train and play on AstroTurf. Why move the game all the way to Tarkwa? There’s no home advantage here — we’re all from the same community,” said Kwaku Appiah, a long-time supporter of Attram De Visser.
Golden Kick and Attram De Visser have risen through the ranks playing technical, high-intensity football — a style that thrives on synthetic pitches. Fans believe shifting the game to natural grass, particularly one with inconsistent bounce like T&A Park, would dull the excitement and diminish the quality of play.
“We’re not saying we won’t travel. We’ll follow our teams anywhere. But for fairness and football’s sake, this match deserves a good AstroTurf — that’s how these boys play their best,” argued Amina Larbi, a Golden Kick supporter and local trader in Tuba.
For Tuba, this semifinal is more than just a game. It’s a celebration of grassroots football, of youth empowerment, and of how far local clubs can go when given the chance. That both semifinalists come from the same suburb is unprecedented — and the locals want to witness it in full color.
Already, the community is gearing up with posters, drumming groups, and supporter buses, ready to move in numbers if needed. But many believe the FA has an opportunity to make a fan-first decision. But for now, their message is simple:
“Let the Tuba Derby stay on the turf. Let the boys play where they shine.”
