Former Asante Kotoko assistant coach, David Ocloo, has been appointed as the new head coach of two-time Togolese champions, AS OTR Lomé.
The announcement comes less than 48 hours after Kotoko confirmed his departure, with the official details of the move, including his contract terms, expected to be released soon.
Ocloo’s appointment at AS OTR Lomé comes at a crucial time for the club, who have had a disappointing start to their season, suffering defeats in their first two matches. The club hopes that Ocloo’s leadership and expertise will trigger a turnaround in their form and spark a resurgence in their performance.
Before taking on this new challenge, Ocloo had a successful stint with Asante Kotoko, where he played a key role in their 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League title victory as the assistant coach to Prosper Narteh Ogum. His coaching career also includes contributing to the success of Hearts of Oak, helping them secure the 2023 President Cup.
AS OTR Lomé will be counting on the 40-year-old’s experience and tactical acumen to guide them through the rest of the season, and his arrival is seen as a significant step toward restoring the club to their competitive best. Kotoko, on the other hand, has yet to announce a replacement for Ocloo, leaving uncertainty over the direction of their coaching staff.
